CopyButton is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to create reusable rules for displaying Copy buttons beside matching text and elements on webpages.

2. Information Collection
CopyButton does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information, webpage content, or browsing history with the developer, advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

- User accounts
3. Webpage Content
CopyButton accesses webpage content only when necessary to provide its user-facing functionality, including:
- Allowing the user to select a webpage element
- Locating elements using CSS selectors or XPath expressions
- Finding text using regular expressions
- Displaying Copy buttons beside matching elements
- Formatting and copying user-selected values to the clipboard
This processing takes place locally in the user's browser.
CopyButton does not transmit webpage text, copied values, form contents, email contents, browsing activity, or visited page URLs to the developer or any developer-operated server.
4. Stored Information
CopyButton stores rules and preferences created by the user. Depending on the features used, this information may include:
- Rule names
- Website domains
- URL-matching patterns
- CSS selectors
- XPath expressions
- Regular expressions
- Output templates
- Button labels and positions
- Extension preferences
This information is stored using the Chrome Storage API.
If CopyButton uses chrome.storage.sync and the user has Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may synchronize this information between the user's signed-in Chrome browsers using Google's infrastructure. Such synchronization is governed by Google's applicable privacy policies and Chrome settings.
The developer does not receive or have access to information stored through Chrome Storage or synchronized through the user's Chrome account.
CopyButton does not collect the user's general browsing history. Domains and URL patterns are stored only when the user includes them in a CopyButton rule.
5. Clipboard Access
CopyButton writes a generated value to the clipboard only after the user clicks a Copy button or otherwise initiates a copy action.
CopyButton does not monitor, read, collect, store, or transmit the user's existing clipboard contents.
6. Permissions
CopyButton uses browser permissions only to provide its disclosed functionality.
Storage
The storage permission is used to save user-created rules and extension preferences.
Active Tab
The activeTab permission provides temporary access to the current webpage after a user action, such as starting the element-selection tool.
Website Access
Website access is used to locate elements matching user-created rules and display Copy buttons beside those elements.
Access is used only for CopyButton's user-facing functionality. Webpage processing takes place locally in the browser, and webpage contents are not sent to the developer.
7. Information Sharing
CopyButton does not transmit or share user information with:
- The developer
- Advertisers
- Analytics providers
- Data brokers
- Developer-operated external services
- Other third parties
If Chrome Sync is enabled, Google may process stored extension settings solely as part of Chrome's synchronization functionality.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Rules and preferences remain in Chrome Storage until they are deleted by the user or removed through Chrome or extension-management controls.
Users can edit or delete individual rules from CopyButton's rule-management page. Users may also remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its stored data.
Data synchronized through Chrome Sync may be managed through the user's Chrome and Google Account sync settings.
9. Security
CopyButton is designed to process webpage information locally and minimize access to user data.
The extension does not execute remotely hosted code and does not transmit user information to developer-operated servers.
10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
CopyButton's use of information obtained through Chrome extension APIs is limited to providing and improving its single-purpose, user-facing functionality.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
11. Children's Privacy
CopyButton does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if CopyButton's functionality, permissions, data practices, or applicable requirements change.
